Ryan and I about 400m from the finish
Belwood went as I thought it would. I had a good swim but I still wanted to stay with Ryan but feel off going around the 1st turn. I swam in 2nd till about 150m when James pulled up beside me and we swam in together. then it was hammer time on the bike. I caught Ryan just before the turn around which was my goal when I got onto the bike. My thought was we would ride together into T2, but to my surprise I got a gap around 22k. I got into T2 with about 25-30" on Ryan. I was running steady till the turn around when I saw he had made up some time on me. I started running a little faster because I really wanted to win. At the next turn around he was even close. But at that point we were only 1k away from the finish and I knew he wasn't going to make up 15sec in one km. So I held off for the win. My Brother-in-Law James Loaring came 3rd overall. I wonder who my sister was cheering for?????
Monday was my 1st day of training camp at the Loaring Ocean. John and I came up with that name because I kept calling Lake Eire the Ocean. I got up nice and early and had breakfast with John and then I hit the surf. My workout was 3x800. I don't have a anything marked out yet so I just swam hard for 10min hard with 2min rest. with was very choppy out there. Then I followed that with a 30min easy run. then after having lunch I went out on the bike for a 95km bike ride. It's very flat out here. I covered the distance in 3 hours and I felt good. Tomorrow will be my hardest bike workout of the week. I going to start my training at 8am with a 26min swim followed by a 120km TT. It will be my longest TT of the year but I know I need to do it if I want to bike well in my 70.3. I'll post my time and avg. speed when I get back tomorrow. I won't be able to tell you watt's though. We will just say my watt will be high. lol
