Training

This picture was at my works Christmas party. This is my good friend Jim and his Wife Karin. And of course Jenn and I.

Training for a Marathon and working a full time job is very hard. This is how one of my weeks look. I wake up Monday-Friday at 4:45am and I'm out the door by 5:10. I work about 45min away and I start at 6am. Then I'm on my feet all-day long till 3pm. Then I come home and I need to give myself a little rest before I head over to the gym around 6 or 7pm. I'm up to running for a hour on the treadmill. Then I spend time with Jennifer till about 9:30. Then I like to be in bed by 10:30. On the weekends I usually sleep in as late as I can. Which is usually on 9am.

So what I'm getting at here. anyone that has to get up and work on there feet all-day long and train, I think you're awesome. My Marathon group starts there training next Monday. There is 20 weeks till the BIG day.

I hope everyone has a Marry Christmas and Happy New Year.

December

I have now been training for 3 weeks. I started out with 20min runs and have worked up to 50min. I still have over 20 weeks to train for the Toronto Marathon, so I'm taking it slow so I don't injure myself. I am now coaching 20 people for the 1/2 marathon and 5 people for the Marathon on May 15th. There training starts on Monday. They will have a slow build up and once they are 12 weeks out they will start the hard training. The Marathon group will start there hard training 18 weeks out. We don't have a team name yet, but we will come up with one before we start racing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I will update my blog after the holidays. That's when my hard training starts. I'm sure some of you will want to know how I'm training. I will be doing most of my training on the treadmill. I will post the speeds and inclines I'm running at every week. Right now I'm running at 5% incline at 7.5 speed. And my heart rate is around 135-140.

.............

And so it begins. The more I think about it, the more i want to run the Marathon. What got me over the edge was talking with Reid Coolsaet this weekend at the C3 Banquet. He talk a little about his Marathon he ran in Toronto and I thought..... I can run one of these. I will start to build my mileage slow and work my way up to 110 miles by March. If anyone is interested in running one with me, let me know and I will help. I have my XC girls running the 1/2 Marathon and i will be giving them workouts all winter. So if you would like to get on the email list, send me your email and I will add you.
