This is my good friend Jim and his Wife Karin. And of course Jenn and I.

Training for a Marathon and working a full time job is very hard. This is how one of my weeks look. I wake up Monday-Friday at 4:45am and I'm out the door by 5:10. I work about 45min away and I start at 6am. Then I'm on my feet all-day long till 3pm. Then I come home and I need to give myself a little rest before I head over to the gym around 6 or 7pm. I'm up to running for a hour on the treadmill. Then I spend time with Jennifer till about 9:30. Then I like to be in bed by 10:30. On the weekends I usually sleep in as late as I can. Which is usually on 9am.

So what I'm getting at here. anyone that has to get up and work on there feet all-day long and train, I think you're awesome. My Marathon group starts there training next Monday. There is 20 weeks till the BIG day.

I hope everyone has a Marry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Dave

I started out with 20min runs and have worked up to 50min. I still have over 20 weeks to train for the Toronto Marathon, so I'm taking it slow so I don't injure myself. I am now coaching 20 people for the 1/2 marathon and 5 people for the Marathon on May 15th. There training starts on Monday. They will have a slow build up and once they are 12 weeks out they will start the hard training. The Marathon group will start there hard training 18 weeks out. We don't have a team name yet, but we will come up with one before we start racing.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I will update my blog after the holidays. That's when my hard training starts. I'm sure some of you will want to know how I'm training. I will be doing most of my training on the treadmill. I will post the speeds and inclines I'm running at every week. Right now I'm running at 5% incline at 7.5 speed. And my heart rate is around 135-140.

Dave

The more I think about it, the more i want to run the Marathon. What got me over the edge was talking with Reid Coolsaet this weekend at the C3 Banquet. He talk a little about his Marathon he ran in Toronto and I thought..... I can run one of these. I will start to build my mileage slow and work my way up to 110 miles by March. If anyone is interested in running one with me, let me know and I will help. I have my XC girls running the 1/2 Marathon and i will be giving them workouts all winter. Since I have last posted, I finished up my triathlon season in Muskoka. After taking off for the last few months I was thinking of what I can do next. And Since I love running so much..... why not do a marathon? I will start back running next week. I will decide if i will run one after Christmas. I need to make sure I'm not too tired from work to run all those miles.

Dave

It's a longer race then normal, but I need to start racing longer races to get ready for my Ironman this summer. Sean and I have been training very well down here the past few months. On Wednesday morning, Sean and I had a hard ride up Mt. Lemon. It's a 26 mile climb and reach's over 8000ft. Our time up was 1:53. My best time before that was 2:02. I'm happy with my fitness at this point. I just need to make sure I don't over do it. Barrie is doing a good job in giving us rest when we need it.
This weekend is also a big weekend in golf. And I know everyone's eyes will be on Tiger at the masters. So far he's golfing like he does every year at the masters. This weekend is also the start of the ITU World Cup Series. The 2 triathletes that I will be cheering for this year will be Simon Whitfield and Sarah Haskins. I always cheer for Simon because he is just a great guy, and Sarah Haskins I trained with for 2 months here in Tucson. Sarah and her husband Nate were great training partners.

Here is a video of Sarah, Nate, and the gang training in Tucson.

Untitled from Davie Sharratt on Vimeo.

Here is how it went.....
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. But when I met Andrew and Dave earlier last year, I knew they were one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by 2. So there were 3 of us in the wolf pack. I was alone first in the pack and then Dave joined in later. And 6 months ago, when Dave introduced me to you Andrew I thought, wait a second, could it be. And now I know for sure that I just added two guys to my wolf pack. 3 of us (Dragon, Night Hawk and Wolf) flying around Toronto. So tonight, I make a toast.

Now here is the video of our fun day on February 6, 2010

My niece and I are at the cottage hanging out by the water. I ended up going through the ice and got my shoe and whole foot socked. But I kept Annika clear of going in with me:)

This New Years I hung out with my 2 best friends (Karsten and Francis)and we brought in the new year in style. Well, not really. lol. We didn't even have cable TV. We played sing star all night. But I had a really fun night. It was also Francis Birthday at 12am. He was the New Years baby in London England. Then New Years Day I was planning on running a 1/2 marathon with Steve Hewick, but Friday morning I wasn't feeling up to it. Instead I went for a 90min walk with the Madsen family.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 227px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxYpBWyRdApc-KpcR8LxYql6Ji8LAdufhPisetkAjmjZ_NBxzOnAfVUlAFyiWRJCg6A5mI4m29u16WMmhF8jxs_-GxZCNkBnqoOwYVCxmFHELhK60gT9uWlho7CV3cDnKD1PVfM_FI9CM/s320/Dave+and+karsten.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421989835083250610" />

Now it's that good old time for your New Years resolution. I have a few thoughts in my head, but I'm going to take them one step at a time. My first resolution is to graduate College on January 29Th. But most importantly I pass the Government Test. I have to answer 100 questions from anything I have learned in the passed 3 years and score better then 70%. Wish me luck:)

And in other news I got to hold the Olympic Torch last Monday because Francis got the Honor of carrying it downtown Guelph. Good job Francis.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9egEtgdujiir8BIFaujswqt_GToZKeh7XiZHRJ54LZkQi6MEfSZ5gI_-ZIhMLpTyECkq5n0rUsgioOIF5Yj5ovHsA7r050ucNgMcmceZ2ahT4SYKpau5yPEO-oqEi3x7DB36LRKduoUc/s320/Francis+Olympic+torch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421989330792299458" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrr7CrdyFDO3IBawwONyy5eXQaQ76XQugDrB4iVuN8tngc3ofK5N0-3bo9Fapxw3-ebHZwwgTvmRYoikMupBMW20Sd5AEF_bzlg-27K2mu6hHJb-omOTIjwkHm-7J8Rx-oN3mq1470oXc/s320/Dave+and+Olympic+torch.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5421986803237678658" />

This is our family's favourite holiday of the year and we go all out when it comes to making someone we love smile. This year will be the first Christmas I will spend without my Grandparents. My Grandma died a few months ago and my Grandpa went back to England to be with my family that lives over there. This year I will get to spend some of Christmas with the Loaring family. I will be heading down to the cottage with my Sister and James after the Sharratt family Christmas dinner.
I will be heading back on the 28Th to see my room-mate Francis Coral-Mellon carry the Olympic Torch downtown Guelph. So the next week is very busy, but I will love every minute of it.
I wanted to go swimming today, but the pool was closed and from what they told me it will be every night till the New Year. They told me I could come at 11am, But I have school every-day till the 24Th. I guess I will have to stay out of the water for a week or so. I'm not a big fan of running outside in the cold, and I won't bike inside unless I have too. I think the best thing I can do right now is relax until New Years and then start my focus.

Have a very merry christmas and Happy New Year.
Davie
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikY9JkE6TFDSCtV5yHDqGnPBwelbga3QL2KofDPFJ0olJH3veDLAABrdM6MTWGbV_-k_1LufX8QAyiyGuiZzF765rH2r5VUwseM85cI0W6ydqyMHXfkJsjedjSm5h2T3j2m83U5oiXHsk/s320/Family.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417881117699503954" />

If your wondering what this means...... It's my team name for Allied Force. This is a fun team that a few of us from the Guelph area has created. It's funny because when I look back to 2005 I created a team just like this one and I called it Team Turnpike. Team Turnpike was a bunch of us guys that trained down south in 2005. Steve “Houdini” Hewick was my team captain and still is. So I now belong to 3 teams. C3 which is my main team, Team turnpike which Breanne and myself own, and now I'm on Allied Force. I will represent all teams to the best of my ability. My team role this year will be longer Triathlons (70.3 and Ironman). I'm looking forward to a fun year.

Dave

For more info visit
Allied Force

I'm starting to miss getting out the door for a swim or run. I think what got me back was this weekend when the Loaring family wanted to go swimming with Annika. So I joined in on the fun. Annika still doesn't like the water. It will just take a few more times in the water for her to start enjoying it. Anyways, James saw all the PTC group doing a workout in the water and I'm not sure how it came up, but he told me to jump in and do an all-out 100 free and see how fast I could go. I haven't been in the water since the Guelph Lake triathlon which was back on Sept 5th. So with no warm-up, I was ready to go. I got Alex to time with my stop watch so we could tell how fast I went. I can't remember my 50 split, but I ended up swimming a 58.9. My PB is 56.5. Not bad eh???? It just shows that your body doesn't really forget how to swim. I had another guy show me this after not swimming for 2 years. He went 56.2 when his PB was 53.9.
So this is why I'm ready to come back and start training. In other news, I have got rid of my facebook account. I just found I was on it too much and it was very distracting. So I thought the best idea was to get rid of it. It seems like I have so much time to study now:)

Dave

I have decided to take a few weeks off of training because my body is feeling really run down. Once I feel like I have recovered I will start swimming again. But I have to make sure I want to train again. Because I wasn't having fun the passed 3 months. From what I have read so far, it's going to be about everyday life inside the Loaring and Sharratt family. Breanne is a very successful business owner and she has a great balance between raising little Annkia and working. I guess she gets that from my Mom and Dad who also did a great job on raising Breanne and I. Well, here is the blog if anyone to visit it.
http://bjams-loaring.blogspot.com/

Now back to what my blog is all about. Sports:) I have my National Championship this afternoon. I have not raced well all XC season, but I'm looking forward to racing today. It's going to be a cold one today. it's -3 right now. But I'm going to make sure I dress warm. My race plan today is to start out slow and try to pick up my pace throughout the race. The course is very hilly. Not what I'm best at, but if I stay tough out there, I will race very well.

Wish me luck today.
Dave

But it's my own fault. My race plan was to go out in control and not get caught up in the fast start. But I went out too slow. and by the 2nd km I was 20sec back. My coach gave me a split at 3k and I was 30' back. My plan was to bring them back over the last half of the race. But my plan didn't work. My other team-mate who was running with me at this point did bring them back. He ended up coming 2nd overall. Where I didn't have another gear like him. I did bring back 2 guys and was gaining on 3-6th place. I have a race this weekend in Waterloo. Last year I raced very well at this meet. This was my last years training ground.

This passed week I have decided I need to run more miles to run faster. I have a lot of people questioning me about what I'm doing. This sometimes bugs me because I know my body best and I know when I'm going over board. This week I'm going to be around 105 miles. I have done this kinda mileage for the passed 2 years. And I always seem to run fast when I run high mileage. And I will run fast in a month.

This weekend is also Annika's 1st birthday party. I just watched the video Breanne made of Annika's 1st year I it brought a tear to my eye. So it's going to be a busy weekend. I'm also going to watch Karsten Race today in Cambridge. Lets hope I can bring him some luck and he can take the win in his 1st XC meet.

Dave

I have been building my miles up slowly this year. I was looking back at my logs from the passed 2 years and at this point in 2007 and 2008 I was already running 95-100 miles a week. And I weight a lot less. I'm hoping this year I will have more POP in legs because I'm not running so many miles. I'm going to find out after a few races if I race better with HUGE miles or less miles. Every year I have raced XC I have always tried to look like my hero Steve Prefontaine. This year I will still think about him when I race, but I'm not going to grow a mustache or sideburns. I'm looking forward to racing. It's not going to be easy to win, but if I train hard and race smart I should have a good shot at winning.

Dave
Cheers to a good season!
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihUZ9IxnE_3WWc2QeB4o7J3BiCF5ob-aGBNdc-Mfoty9qurtEMs1tptTFLk5xFlkETicFCDOPzlpniAZlDZ8K5d5DJQgji8GzInqVZ6QTipNerxq6rrCP-3Md3qcouTWzRTedw1ZlDl_E/s320/IMG_4143.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385126643091572690" />
