1st Triathlon on Sunday

This has been a rough week for me. And when I say rough, I mean my work has told me I have to start working the afternoon shift as of next week:( So once again I have to change when I do workouts. My new shift is 2:15-10:30. Lets get back to some good news now......Training.

I have had a great week of training. Well, maybe just a great week of swimming. My bike is back at my parents house so I did no riding this week. I did get to run with a VERY FAST Kenyan that is living with me for 3 months. He just raced the Ottawa 10k and ran 28:20. That's right, 28:20...... I'm getting to see how they run and eat. I have been trying some of his food here at the house. It's not bad, but I don't think I could survive off it. They live a much different life style over there. On Tuesday I went for a easy run with him, and most of you would be very surprised how slow they run on there easy days. He told me when it's easy....It means easy. When I go hard.... I go very hard. Francis took him to the track the other day and he did 5x1000m and was running 2:40. I think they told me he was taking 60" or 90" rest. They made a video of his race last night. I put the video at the bottom of the post. Kibet is wearing the Conestoga singlet.

On Wednesday night I did a good swim set with Alex. The goal was to hold the same time for the whole set. Alex and my goal time was 29.7 for 50 yards. We started out with 8x50 on 60". Our avg. was 28.9 2nd set was 8x50 on 50". avg. was 29.5. the last set was 8x50 on 40". avg. was 29.2 and on the very last one we both went 28.1. Today we did 18x100 on different pace times throughout the set. I don't want to confuse everyone, so lets just say that last 2 were on 1:05. It was easy at the start and hard at the end. I'm off to Guelph tomorrow morning for a 2 hour ride with some pickups and a open water swim with Karsten. Then on Saturday we are heading over to Milton to swim and bike on the course. Even joy the video that Francis and Kibet made last night.

Good luck in Milton. I was there last weekend and the water was nice. Somewhere around 68 F.
